It's not uncommon for Northern Greece to experience long spells of warm weather in autumn. It starts to feel like autumn in November rather than September or October, and this cool climate might turn into winter by mid to end of December.
This is why a picture of a blooming rose with snow on it isn't such a rare phenomenon. If the poor buds take a whiff of mild weather, they mistake it for spring and decide to continue to strut their stuff on the stage that is nature. Only too late do they discover that the winds suddenly change direction and bring snow along with them.
For me, this picture is the depiction of perseverance. The delicate flower stands stolid, implacable, telling all those that gaze upon it that it is there, despite it all, offering what it has to offer to the world, for it can do no less than that.
This picture is a lesson that character, once hardened to the challenges of life, is impossible to cripple. Character abides and becomes all the more flawless as it carries the burdens of life on its shoulders for all to see.
