Serenity
More and more pictures of beautiful sandy beaches mushroom on the internet as seasons alter to make way for summer.
Without a doubt, many are those letting their minds wander to faraway places, where a turquoise blue sea meets a cobalt sky. Well, I decided not to let anyone down with this snapshot of a lonely rock on a serene stretch of sand.
I find it perfectly poised somehow, seated rather comfortably, looking out towards the rippling waters, almost philosophical in its demeanor.
This is a picture that captures our need for rest and reflection. We need to slow down at times, more than we can imagine. The sea is a great place to unwind because the colors that surround you were made to calm the nerves; the wind carried to the shore on perpetual waves penetrates every fiber of your body as you breathe it in; the warm grains of sand invite your feet to dive into a golden sea next to the sea itself.
It's a no-lose situation, provided there is relative peace and quiet. This is why I have often urged people not to wait for July or August to pack their bags and head for the seaside. Even September is too late. Look for those days in the year when there are likely to be very few walking along the beach. It doesn't matter if the weather is colder. The result is the same -- a few hours of respite from the necessary horrors of an endless race for acceptance and financial security.
Remember. Life is to be lived, not only labored.
